4.0 out of 5 stars A Relief After Tons of Searching!, December 26, 2008

This review is from: Mr. Coffee ECMP50 Espresso/Cappuccino Maker, Black (Kitchen)
Like most who purchased this product, it was my first espresso maker. And I found out quickly that hunting for these things can be overwhelming! I purchased it at my local Target for $79.99 for convenience in case I had to return it -- with all of the mixed reviews out there, I was incredibly weary of choosing one! However, I will most likely not need to do so. It is perfect for all of my needs!

PROS:
1. Incredibly easy to use! Directions and trouble-shooting pages in manual are simple and helpful.
2. Compact size, looks nice sitting on the counter.
3. Easy clean-up. All parts that need to be cleaned detach easily.
4. A standard sized coffee cup will fit under the spout -- not so with many models!
5. The steam feature is simple, fairly powerful, and works well. No problems here.
6. As long as you get a good batch of coffee grounds, this machine can turn it into delicious espresso!

CONS:
1. I have been experiencing a... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Coffee really did their homework on this one, January 8, 2009

I received this for Christmas from my loving wife who noticed a slight cloud over my weekends since my espresso maker went out several months ago. I had the Mr. Coffee model previous to this one. It served me well for over a year with regular use before I learned the hard way about not overpacking the grounds.

After taking this one around the block a few times I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the design improvements they've made. Overall, this machine is a tremendous value for under $100 (mine was $75 on sale). You would really have to be a coffee snob (and have a lot of disposable income) not to love what you get for the money (I'm a poor coffee snob.)

To sing this machine's praises, I'll highlight the improvments they've made:

1) You no longer have to remove the water container to fill it up. It's an awkward shape to try to fill from my refrigerator. So I just use my frothing pitcher and pour directly into it. This also chills... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent cappuccino for few $$$, January 10, 2009

This review is from: Mr. Coffee ECMP50 Espresso/Cappuccino Maker, Black (Kitchen)
Don't listen to the coffee snobs who say you need to spend hundreds (or more) for a good cappuccino machine! I didn't get a machine for a long time because I figured they would be too complicated to use, time-consuming to clean, and the inexpensive ones would make lousy cappuccino. But Starbucks gets expensive, so when I saw this one on sale for $59.99 I figured all it needed to do was make 20 decent drinks to pay for itself. It has done that in a couple of weeks! Following the instructions, it's very easy to use, cleaning is also quick and easy, and the cappuccinos and lattees come out great. It's a huge plus that you can use regular coffee mugs, so who cares that it doesn't come with little espresso cups? The ONLY negative is that it really should have come with a milk frothing pitcher, but I picked up an 8-oz. one at the supermarket for $1.99 and it works fine. If you are on the fence about whether or not to take the plunge on an inexpensive espresso/cappuccino maker, buy... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not without flaws., October 31, 2010
Just picked this up last night. To keep it simple, here's a pros and cons list of the coffee maker (not the k cup system)

Pros
Small. Fits really nicely anywhere.
Fast. Brews a cup in about 1-2 minutes.
Quiet. Not whisper silent, but quiet enough to not be annoying.
Taste. This is probably more a testament to the k cup system, but the coffee brewed tastes great.
Cheap. One of the cheapest, if not the cheapest k cup machine.

Cons
Brews in small quantities. It brews in only one size, and using a standard mug, it leaves an inch of room from the top. Average i Guess, but can be quite annoying if you enjoy larger portions, ex. Travel mug size.
Too short. Even after removing the drip tray that adds another 3/4 inch or so in height, you cannot fit many normal sized travel mugs underneath. Although, this is a moot point considering you'd only be filling it up about halfway, if even.
Temperature. Even handling... Read more

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
Back in June of 2009, Keurig announced a partnership with Mr. Coffee, as well as Cuisinart. The Cuisinart partnership created a premium line of Keurig brew machines. The Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 looks to catch the interest of the more cost-conscious consumer.

PROS:
- Quick
- Easy
- No mess
- Good value (for a Keurig)

CONS:
- Higher cost for coffee using K-Cups
- Higher up-front cost of coffee maker

I was a heavy coffee drinker in college and at my first office job but have otherwise been a casual java drinker since. I had owned coffee machines in the past but typically went the route of the Peet's, Starbucks, Caribou, etc. It was easier, more social, and usually tasted better. Going through the motions with a coffee maker at home was an arduous task, which often resulted in me having to throw away many bags of coffee due to expiration. Then came Mr. Coffee and Keurig technology.

4.0 out of 5 stars Much better than Keurig Mini, November 19, 2010
I previously had the Keurig Mini which quit working in less than 9 months. I purchased the Mr Coffee and like it much better. With the Keurig you had to follow an annoying sequence of when to load the K cup, water and mug, not so with this machine. I would prefer a 10 oz serving but I can live with the 8 oz.

This review is from: Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System (Kitchen)
My wife's Christmas present this year is a Keurig B70 coffee maker. We have a B100 at work that I was very impressed by and we decided that a home machine would nicely fill the need when we might want a cup or two, but might not want to make a full pot.

Long story short: we love the machine. So far, our favorite coffee is Timothy's Kona Blend -- but we haven't tried more than a handful of the scores of varieties of coffees and teas available for the beast. We got the extra filter for when we want to grind and use our own coffee in the machine, but have not yet had the opportunity to try it yet. It is a nice option to have.

We'll still use our Zojirushi thermal carafe brewer when we need a full pot, but the Keurig is wonderful for lesser amounts. Highly recommended.

I learned today that one of the coffee roasters that supplies the K-cups, Green Mountain, just bought Keurig (an American company with a Dutch name). I hope this won't limit the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Variety rules the day at Keurig, October 5, 2006

This review is from: Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System (Kitchen)
Being one who loves convenient, but great tasting coffee, I've bought several single-serve coffee machines. The Home Cafe, My Bunn Cafe, and the most recent, Tassimo.

They all worked quite well, considering how "new" they were to the field, and how fresh the field really was at the time, for consumers. I was happy with each purchase(save the Home Cafe, which had a serious mechanical flaw).

I'm not going to spend all my time just comparing the Keurig machine; I'm simply going to say "I wish I'd bought one of these[any Keurig machine] earlier". It meets almost all the desires I had in a single-serve coffee machine.

- Tons of variety in K-cups (which actually can be difficult, I didn't know where to start or what to try!)
- Simple to use
- Beautiful, functional design
- 4 brew size choices
- Keeps water hot for the next cup instead of waiting until you fiddle with the machine
- Can be used with a custom filter K-Cup... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Single Cup Brewer On The Market, October 9, 2006

This review is from: Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System (Kitchen)
I recently purchased the new Keurig B-70 Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System that was released on October 1st, 2006 and have been very happy with it. The machine is extremely well designed, simple to operate, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly, brews an excellent cup of coffee. I am very impressed with how quickly it is able to brew a cup of coffee, the selection of brew sizes, and how simple clean up is.

There are a variety of single cup brewers on the market now, many utilizing pre-packaged coffee "pods" for brewing. Personally I was not comfortable purchasing a product where I would be locked into the selection and pricing of a specific manufacturer, or one that would only brew coffee and not tea and cocoa. This is just one area where Keurig really shines above their competition.

Keurig has gathered support of a variety of gourmet coffee, tea, and cocoa manufacturers and there currently there are over 140 different types sold pre-packaged... Read more
